Hello, I have noticed over recent days that IPv6 does not work over 4G unless you connect using a blang APN setting...

What I have found is this....

APN of 'internet' as recommended by Elisa = No IPv6
APN of 'internet4' (pay service to get public IPv4 over 4G) = No IPv6
APN left blank = IPv4 and IPv6 supported.

Can you please advise on this situation?

Also I wondered if there is an update you can give on the planned 4G update to the Seikela / Laulainen area of Masku. It was mentioned in the old forum to one of my posts there was an update going to happen here this year.

Thanks.

I checked that this was solved recently with the fault ticket.

APN internet or internet.saunalahti supports ipv6. Ipv6 is not supported with APN internet4 which is used for public ip service only. Leaving APN blank is not possible in reality as the device/program will still use some default APN which most likely is internet in the background. Our internet connections wont work with blank APN. Situation with ipv6 is mentioned in our site in finnish unfortunately: http://elisa.fi/asiakaspalvelu/aihe/mobiililaajakaista/ohje/ipv6-osoitteet.

Laulainen/Seikelä area has had most of the updates actually already done last month or this month. There's just one update left to one tower which shouldn't affect a lot anymore. Other than that we can see only updates for the next 2-3 months max. Theres nothing else coming at the moment during this time.

Thank you for telling me how your APM service should work with IPv6. Can you please examine the following three images. Clearly there is a fault with the 'internet' APN which you need to investigate.

I have also noticed that the 'internet.saunalahti' APN appears to resolve IPv4 DNS lookups much faster then using the 'internet' APN.

On the Laulainen/Seikelä area updates, can you confirm if these were 800Mhz cells or a higher rating? Also, can you see if there are plans to give Lemu a higher bandwidth than 800Mhz? Expicially cell 631554.

Regards. Adam
These are my IPv6 test results with "Saunalahti 4G Super" + Huawei B315 router and APN setting "internet"

Clearly something strange going on, perhaps this is a fault on a regional scale.

Sakarialanne, see if the IPv6 large packet test resolves quicker if you set the APN to 'internet.saunalahti' instead. Just remember you best cycle the connection to the 4G network for the new APN setting to take affect.

I do not pay for the super connection either btw. We have the slower connection (50Mbit) because bandwidth is currently limited in our part of Finland and we would be paying for nothing.

I changed the APN to "internet.saunalahti" and rebooted the router and after that, IPv6 is not working at all anymore, see the test results below:

Isn't that weird, you have the opposite result to me. Either way there is clearly an issue in the 4G network with IPv6 which needs addressing. I'm using a 315s router also btw.

Is there any chance of an update on this IPv6 issue and my other question?

In the Seikelä-Laulainen area there's only 800Mhz cells now and there aren't any plans for 1800Mhz in the near future to either that area or Lemu. I don't have the possibility to test this Ipv6 issue right now. Do you still have problems with the "internet" APN? Could you please also add your customer number to your profile so we can check if everything looks normal with your connection.

Yes the IPv6 issue still happens when I set my APN to 'internet', customer number added to profile,

@Razoola1 I opened a fault ticket regarding this issue, we'll get back to you 🙂
