Thanks for informing.
Then its better to me has these swedish and norwegian numbers as it is.
The question here is that when will Elisa inform their customers ? What are they waiting for. There wont be any compromise on this. Calls SMS will be as per as your deal. A data cap like sonera has will be there but Elisa should put out there DEAL. I am really glad that Telia has taken a quick step and due to competition Elisa & DNA WILL HAVE TO DO THE SAME. If not then atleast I wont be a customer for long.
Sorry we are part of the EU but thats how life is. Some you lose some you win.

Yes, it is always handy to have two sim cards from different countries. For example, if you need to call Germany and you are in Finland, the call will be an international call using your Finnish sim, but a roaming call using your Swedish sim.

Completely different rules apply to these two calls. If you have two sim cards, you can pick the one which is better for that call.

What are they waiting for.

Billing disputes, of course.

Terms and conditions require Elisa to inform about changes at least a month in advance. As Elisa has not informed about any exceptions to the roaming, they have de facto agreed to at least the minimum level specified by EU regulations.

In practice this means, that domestic call and text prices apply to Elisa subscriptions when roaming in EU on 2017-06-15. If there will become any exceptions, they won't be effective until at least one month after Elisa has informed about them.

Data use will be capped during roaming. Three months ago I posted an example how this could work, but I think I got VAT wrong that time. So here's updated table of how much you can demand free EU roaming data from Elisa starting 2017-06-15

Tarkka 1M 2.1 GB/month
Tarkka 4G 4.8 GB/month
Tarkka 4G Super 6.3 GB/month
Tarkka 4G Super+ 10.5 GB/month
Huoleton 1M 5.2 GB/month
Huoleton 4G 6.3 GB/month
Huoleton 4G Super 7.3 GB/month
Huoleton 4G Super+ 12.5 GB/month
Mobiililaajakaista Mini 1.0 GB/month
Mobiililaajakaista 4G 4.6 GB/month
Mobiililaajakaista 4G Super 6.2 GB/month
Mobiililaajakaista 4G Super+ 10.5 GB/month
Mobiililaajakaista vrk 4G 0.3 GB/month

Exceeding data transfer can be charged at 9.548 €/GB maximum.
Should you be billed more that that, dispute the charges.
Ok. But should not Elisa put this up on their web page or inform ?
Irritus, I would really like to know where the these figures came from:

Tarkka 1M 2.1 GB/month
Tarkka 4G 4.8 GB/month
Tarkka 4G Super 6.3 GB/month
Tarkka 4G Super+ 10.5 GB/month
Huoleton 1M 5.2 GB/month
Huoleton 4G 6.3 GB/month
Huoleton 4G Super 7.3 GB/month
Huoleton 4G Super+ 12.5 GB/month
Mobiililaajakaista Mini 1.0 GB/month
Mobiililaajakaista 4G 4.6 GB/month
Mobiililaajakaista 4G Super 6.2 GB/month
Mobiililaajakaista 4G Super+ 10.5 GB/month
Mobiililaajakaista vrk 4G 0.3 GB/month

There is no supporting information on the Elisa webpages, in fact the only cost related info I found was (https://elisa.fi/puheliittymat/kaytto-ulkomailla/):

Soitto Suomeen, oleskelumaahan sekä muihin EU- ja ETA-maihin 0,03968 €/min + kotimaan hinta (enintään 0,2356 €/min)
Puhelun vastaanotto MAKSUTON
Tekstiviestit 0,0124 €/kpl + kotimaan hinta (enintään 0,0744 €/kpl)
Soitto ryhmien 1-3 maihin 1,62 €/min
Datasiirto 0,0073 €/Mt eli 7,44 €/Gt (Elisan hakemuksen mukainen hinta)

Currently, the Elisa customer facing staff are delivering the same message:

"It's only 'Huoleton 4G Premium' subscription that includes 10GB/mth EU data roaming. All other contracts including Huoleton 4G do not have a any data allowance/package while roaming in the EU, and you will be charged extra while roaming in the EU."

In contrast, the Telia offerings typically include 10GB/month of EU data roaming.

I have to agree though with a post on the Finnish speaking thread. The current situation doesn't really go along with the idea as shown here: https://ec.europa.eu/digital-single-market/node/90
Telia has each pack with eu data. Saunalahti is the most expensive. I have only one connection with Elisa rest all is Telia or DNA.
MY TELIA PACK IS 4G 5GB DATA + 600 MINS TALK TIME 600 SMS/MULTIMEDIA for 19,90. This can be used in roaming or in Finland. For 21,90 you get same pack but with 10gb data so no point that I carry on with Elisa and pay 24,90 for Huoleton 3g

This is from Elisa:

I repeat but now in English.

I live on the border to Finland Haparanda Sweden.

Im using several prepaids.

Mostly I use Telenor in Swedish calls and Saunalahti to finnish numbers.
Im using Saunalahti to my internet 4g router.

Mostly I dont need roam, but if I move around little from border ofcourse roaming starts.

In Sweden almost all operators did agree EU prices no extra fees.
Swedish Telia even better than finnish since it allow prepaid too roam!
Swedish Tele2 have big fail and they loosed me as customer they give roaming only to their more expensive subs....
Telenor gives me exactly same prices as for me in Sweden!!!! They even give 100gb free roaming in Thailand, but that is only for them who have their unlimited data subs in Sweden.
They are the only operator who write in black on white what rules are...you can roam freely 4 months and need use it more in Sweden otherwise full ok.

I would really like to know where the above figures came from.

Do you refer my message a month ago? They are derived from Elisa price list and the EU roaming regulations. However, Elisa decided not to follow the EU rules about roaming, thus things became a bit complicated.

There is no supporting information on the Elisa webpages

You are correct. Elisa tries to cheat their customers by announcing price increases for 2017-06-15 on 2017-06-01, even though their own terms and conditions state that such announcements have to be done at least a month in advance.

voimaantuloa
.

Therefore, the roaming prices Elisa customer service quotes, are not going to be valid until 2017-07-02.

From 2017-06-15 to 2017-07-01 there are no official valid prices for Elisa subscriptions at all. Every customer has to think themselves how much they are willing to pay for roaming and dispute their invoices accordingly.
Thanks irritus, that clears it up for me! I do find the position Elisa is taking to be strange. It might make business sense to some folks inside Elisa, but if the competition is offering EU data allowances across most of their subscriptions, then I suspect many customers will soon start to realise this.

My Huoleton 4GB subscription (web price: 26,90€/mth) has no EU data allowance. Granted, EU data is not expensive, but it's still not included in the package. Similarly prices offerings from Telia/DNA come with 10GB EU data.

Even my TeleFinland 3€/mth sim has 2GB of EU data allowance :D

What gets me, is that Telia/DNA outright say that 'Puhelut, tekstiviestit ja multimediaviestit EU- ja ETA-maissa kotimaan hinnalla' for many of their subscriptions. Yet Elisa say "Soitto Suomeen, oleskelumaahan sekä muihin EU- ja ETA-maihin 0,03968 €/min + kotimaan hinta"

I can only assume many customers will wake up to this, at which point Elisa will have to react :)

Hmmm, interesting times 🙂
Yes there was a time Saunalahti took many clients from the old Tele/sonera but its Telia time now.
For 21,90 you get same pack but with 10gb data.

Actually jakas, only a week ago was I offered the 10GB version for 19,90e/kk (valid 12mths) from one of these CityMarket Telia stalls (ex-Telefinland).
I am just happy to save € 5 now a month. I use my pc a lot at work and home so 5GB is enough for me but if was offered that 10 GB I WOULD TAKE IT.:D I guess my bad luck.

What I dont understand in all this is that why has elisa increased normal sub charges. Its impossible to upgrade or downgrade But time will tell. For people who dont need roaming I guess they will all stay with elisa but still others offer a better deal right now
Käyttäjätaso 1
Why not have the same deal to everyone?
Is this to just misslead its customers or promote to take expensive sub....

From my phones prepaid card.

From my 4G router (also prepaid and alsoi got this to my phone prepaid)

Let Elisa loose for me its waste of money to be loyal to them. So I have just one € 4,90 pack as I dont use that phone at all but have to have it.
Käyttäjätaso 1
I understand phonecompany need money.
But why dont they talk in clear speech how the roaming works. One message it costs just 0.066 per minute in another message it costs 0.66 + Domestic price (I think its about 0.066), So in real words 0.132)
HUGE difference!

But why you need pay 4.90€/month ????
I use prepaid, only thing I need do is to load in 10€/ year to keep it active!!!!
Its a business connection .
Käyttäjätaso 1
I will probably go to Swedish Telenor free data sub!
Its more expensive over here in Sweden, but I live near their sender and get full 4G and still can roam 100GB when visiting Finland and even Thailand. And I can tether hotspot from mobile phone so still save 19 euros to do so....
Finland has very good datarules though, when all offer unlimited for small money.....here in Sweden is a new thing to offer unlimited data but today they do that :-)
Telenor only who offers same deal as Finnish...Tele2 has a stupid sms confirmation in their free data (max 5GB/day, then you need send text and order 1Gb, again 1Gb...really annoying).
Telia offers only limited data.....
I understand phonecompany need money.

I agree, I don't get why Elisa sends different prices in an sms compared to their web pages:

Should you have both prepaid and invoiced sims, then I would understand these messages, but if all your sims are prepaid, those messages you got don't make any sense.

There should be only four cases of roaming prices for Elisa:

The specific roaming charges for Huoleton 4G Premium:
  • Calls and text from other EU/EEA countries to normal numbers in Finland, the country of stay and other EU/EEA countries are included in the monthly charge of the subscription.
  • Data usage is unlimited in Nordic and Baltic countries (Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania). In other EU/EEA countries the limit for no-surcharge data transfer is 10 GB/month.
  • Otherwise refer to the general roaming price list.

The specific roaming charges for Tarkka 4G Premium:
  • Calls and text from other EU/EEA countries to normal numbers in Finland, the country of stay and other EU/EEA countries are billed like in Finland, I.E. no surcharges.

All my sim is prepaid and I did get that sms sent to all my prepaids both phone and the 4g router. But it was easier to edit in computer so i took the snap from my router.
Last nights Telia tarjous 22.79 beats all so many of the people I know have changed. Sorry Elisa. Telia is cheaper and offer 4 g to every one.
