So my old faithful grey netgem finally curled up its toes and in it's place is the new Pace DIT7100. Setup logitech Harmony and it works well enough but I cant replicate the Elisa (top left) standby/power button. Seems that it has a mix of on, off or wait 5 minutes while I boot up.

I have seen and done my best to read the large thread already about this, just wondered if any conclusions have been made yet?

Also is the pace box a lot more sluggish in operation or just my imagination?

I don't have any experience with the Netgem box, however I cannot imagine that it would be more sluggish than the Pace box.

I have the same gripe with Harmony One and the Pace box. I just cannot make the power toggle work. It's just as you described; seemingly random draw of either nothing, correct command or then the "reset" function (the power light starts blinking for a while). Also, whether a command gets through as one command and not a whole bunch of commands, or if it gets through at all, seems like a complete crapshoot even on the other buttons. Sometimes using the Harmony (I've tried with logitech database settings, have tried teaching the commands from the original remote and even fiddling around with the timing and length settings and other minor settings you can change with the software) the whole box gets confused, the power light goes completely off and it takes a few seconds for it to get back on track. So for me it's completely unusable, it's more convenient to use the original remote beside the universal remote. Which kind of beats the purpose of having a universal remote at all.

Also, because of this problem I called to Elisa customer service which has provided me with really good support with this service and much of the initial problems have been ironed out. So this time I asked whether it would be possible to change my box to the netgem box because of this aforementioned problem, I absolutely loathe having to use multiple remotes. The reply was that it might be possible and that I would be contacted via email about it. Well that was over a month ago and no reply yet, hopefully the matter is not forgotten.

Then I'll expand this reply to cover my current feelings about the service; the remote problem is so far the most annoying thing, good second is the fact that you can't assign whatever numbers for the different channels, since that's not going to be changed according to Elisa, I believe it's a technical issue that has it roots buried at such a low level that it would require a complete overhaul of the firmware (which IMHO might not be that bad an idea), otherwise I think this would be implemented already. Also the method of hiding the unused channels from the EPG is a bunch of balloney, it would be bearable if the box would not require resetting to factory defaults for every minor issue, or if it would be possible to save the settings to either cloud (Elisa's server) or maybe possibly even on a USB stick. As far as I can tell these features do not exist, at least not in the Pace box.

The really good sides of this service is that my fiber quality is absolutely top notch, not a single failure during the four+ years I've had it, and the speeds are as promised (100/10). This of course translates to the fact that the IPTV streaming works really well (when the Pace box doesn't decide to get stuck). The customer service is very good over the phone, only the wait times are sometimes quite long. But that's somewhat to be expected since it's an in-house helpdesk as far as I know. This forum is very good, lot of stuff covered here and also the administrators seem like a bunch of nice folks. Also I think the selection of available pay channels is quite good, even the HD channels are very good (Eurosport 1&2 HD, BBC HD, DSC HD showcase and history channel being the best ones for my taste). Now if I could just record them in to the cloud, or even onto a local media, I'd be absolutely thrilled.

So it's not all that bad, it's just annoying that the few things that are quite sour are pretty fundamental ones.

Yes, it is! 😞
