Sorry this is in English - only lived here 3 weeks so haven't learned Finnish yet!

Shortly after arriving here I got a Saunalahti SIM. I then signed up for the 20 euro a month package which gives me 600 minutes, 600 texts and 4mb internet.

I can call people on their mobile phones fine, I can send texts and browse the web absolutely without problem. However, when I try to call a land line number (e.g. a business number, someone's home phone etc) the call immediately fails. I enter the number, the phone says 'dialling' ... then a few seconds later my phone goes beep and hangs up. No message, nothing.

I've tried contacting saunalahti support via online chat, but they say they don't do English. I have tried phoning support several times now (on a friend's phone as I get the same error when I try with my phone!) and am put on hold while they get me someone who speaks english - and I am on hold for 10 minutes, then I get a ringing tone, then I'm back on hold again, then I get a ringing tone, then it hangs up. I've had this several times now and can't speak to anyone.

Can anyone help?

I suppose you have a prepaid-package.

The package-calls do not include business-number calls.

You need  to load money for those calls.

Weird problem.

Are you sure you're dialing correct/proper numbers with area codes, like 09xxxx or 020xxxxx and so on.. or +3589xxxx +35820xxx.

Can't think anything else, if that istn't the problem, maybe something is broken with your sim card or subscription.

And not very good job Saunalahti on not taking your call...!!!

Edit:

Good point Antero if he has only called business numbers like 010, 020, 030... But shouldn't home lines work, or maybe he has zero balance, only deposited the 20 euros.
Hi - thanks for the replies - and thanks to Google translate for translating 'Finland' to 'Australia' for some reason making finding my thread very confusing!

I think it is just 01, 02 etc numbers I've been calling and having no luck - but i've not been getting a message saying I'm out of credit when I call - just a failed call. Also, it would surprise me that my package means I can call mobile phones for free, but not business numbers (unless these are more expensive than home phone number calls?) - and I can't even phone Saunalahti's customer service number which I thought was supposed to be free from Saunalahti phones?

I'll try adding credit and see what happens.
Well! I think that might have fixed it!

Added 10 euros and as a test tried calling the Verkkokaupa phone number (as I had a tab open with it in) - got a message in Finnish which may have either been them saying they are closed or saunalahti saying the call wouldn't work, so shall try a few calls tomorrow when business are open. But for now I must go to bed, thanks for your help!

Is there a package I can get that gives me calls to business numbers (010 etc)? Or do I always have to pay for them?

Two still very common misunderstandings even with finnish people, calls to business numbers even when they cost the same as mobile lines are not included in the minutes package, but common sense says that they should be.

And saunalahti customer service used to be normal 09 land line number and free for customers, but that changed after the move to 010 number.

No package includes calls to business numbers. Depending on the package only to saunalahti/elisa numbers or all mobile and land lines.
Please find below a link for  prices of business-calls.

The latter colum is for mobilephone calls:
