I have happily achieved a wireless household - only to get a long hard-to-hide cable for the connection between the modem and the digibox for Elisa Viihde. Is it possible to make a wireless connection or is the cable a must?

My experience with Buffalo WLI-TX4-AG300N wireless Ethernet Converter is, that playing recordings is ok, but it does not operate with IPTV channels. Purchasing 2 pcs of Telewell TW-PLA523 boxes solved the problem. They are using power-electric circuit of the house. Program supplied with the boxes tell`s that speed is about 100 Mbps./quote]

Yeah, for technical reasons IPTV channels are delivered as multicast traffic (uses UDP protocol) which doesn't have error handling or packet checking like TCP protocol has. Wireless connection increases errors with the connection so it's not an option for proper IPTV transmission in general.

However, Ruckus Wireless offers wireless solutions dedicated for IPTV (quite expensive for home use tho) but here's a link if you're interested:

Hi,

I have similar issues. Unicasts were working fine with simple WLAN router but pay-tv is not working wireless with
standard WLAN equipment.

I have pending order for Ruckus 901-3825-EU01 from Mikromafia (www.mikromafia.fi). I can report here if these devices
are working OK with HD IPTV when I get the devices (4 weeks).

Ruckus representative (import) is Daimler (http://www.daimler.fi/) , they'll inform what other dealers are selling Ruckus products.
Prices have dropped a bit but are still quite high, about 200 EUR.

It would be interesting to see Your report. Please put it here in Palsta.

Ruckus 901-3825-EU0 finally arrived...

Initial remarks:
- quite easy setup: few extra reboots needed to enable WLAN security
- recordings...OK
- HD recordings...OK
- Media center...OK
- SD video rentals (previews)...OK
- HD video preview - not working (could be HDMI via AV issue - not sure)

And then the interesting part, things that previously have NOT worked wireless:

- channels 550 - 557 (SD IPTV)...OK
- channel 580 (Eurosport HD) ..OK (but few clicks and cracks. However I've seen these with direct cable also)

Looks like Ruckus devices deliver what they promise: multicast over WLAN

So - now I've invested additional 200+ EUR to ElisaViihde service just to get my setup ready to add HD pay-TV content.
And at the same time I heard they will remove 36h recordings in March. WTF ?? Great...
