I have discovered today using the internet4 APN is resulting in packet corruption. Over the last couple of days I have been trying to update the firmware of my ps3 and ps4 over wireless via a 4g router (315s). Every time the playstation reported cuppupted file after the firmware download completed. I tried everything and nothing helped. After changing the APN from 'internet4' to 'internet' the problem solved itsself. Changing back to internet4 reproduced the issue.

Are you arare of this fault and have an ETA as to when it will be fixed?

This isn't a problem we're aware of. Would it be possible for you to do a few minute pingtest to Google for example, first with the internet APN and then with internet4 and then redo the test to Sony to see the amount of packetloss between the two APNs and the different servers. This way we could determine whether the problem is in the connection to Sony or in the internet4 APN.

It was the internet4 APN for sure as I also tested by connecting to a large legal torrent and monitored bad packets incoming from connected users which was happening alot.

I have since discovered the issue looked to be related to the public internet4 IP address my connection was given using the internet4 APN, or the way those packets routed to my connection through the network. I had a fiddle and as soon as the internet4 APN gave me an IP address in a different bank the situation resolved itsself so I'm guessing there is a dodgy network rack somewhere.

If it starts happening again I'll keep connected and report it again so it can be investigated.

Okay, let's hope the problem is resolved but if it does happen again please do keep us in the loop so we can make a fault report and the issue can be investigated if needed. 🙂

I have had this situation happen again today and have more information I can give you.

The problem always happens when I am using the internet4 APN and assigned an IP address in the 80.186.x.x block. I had to do about 6 router restarts, every time I had a public IP address in this range I had intermittant corruption.

As soon as I was assigned an ip address starting 84.231 (on this IP address now). The problem solved itsself.

Interesting problem, I will write feedback about this and hopefully it will be solved later. I cannot give you any estimate at the moment. EDIT. actually we still would need some kind of traceroute letting us know which server loses packets with those ip's. I belive this software could do the job: https://www.pingplotter.com/ Most likely some ip's are routed bit differently and might go trough different countries/servers. Thanks for testing this out 🙂

When the problem happens again I can certinally use pingplotter but I do not believe it will show the necessary information because the issue will likely be internal on the Elisa network and the IP4/4G network handover. I will try it anyway in case

The problem I had the other day was enough that it will be causing unnecessary bandwidth on the 4G network espicially related to torrent downloads (due to how that protocol works). The torrent client will simply request the bad packets again and again until its correct.

Thanks! 🙂 Yeah it could be as you said. Just not sure so better to get all necessary info.

I've had a free day and rebooted my router with the intention of creating the situation and then using pingplotter as you suggest to see if it can help you.

I feel this is something your engineers will be able to create in the same way I can.

Our tech guy returned from his vacation and asked to be included in an an email conversation directly with you, is your mail address the one which appears in your palsta profile (don't post it here, send a private message if you want to use another one 🙂 )?

Yes that is an email that can be used.
