Currently in India and not able to receive messages

Hi, I have to came to India, and I have noticed that I am able to see Saunalahti Sim network but couldn't receive any message on it. Currently I am doing remote work and I need to get the OTP on order to continue my work. Please help me in resolving the issue as soon as you can

Do you have an invoiced subscription, a Prepaid or a Latausliittymä?

Only Elisa’s invoiced subscriptions roam in India.

Prepaids and Latausliittymäs do not work in India. They work only in a handful of countries. Saunalahti Prepaid and Latausliittymä roaming information in Finnish.

If you are using the invoiced subscription and sms does not work, please turn VoWiFi off when you need to receive sms.

Unfortunately Elisa does not tell which operators they have roaming agreements with. You might have to try manual network selection on your phone and try every available network one by one.

If you have disabled roaming previously, log in to Oma Elisa, go to barrings , Usage blocks and EDIT. Make sure that checkbox □ Block all usage abroad is clear and click SAVE.

    I am not able to find the usage blocks and edit, please help me in finding it. What settings I should do to receive text messages on my Saunalahti Prepaid number. Please help me. 

    I manually tried to connect to each network it gives me message like your sim card does not allow a connection to this network

    Unfortunately Saunalahti Prepaid does not work in India. You simply can not do anything to change this.

    Thus, you will have to seek for other options:

    • Get a local sim card in India and have the number where sms is sent changed over to your Indian number.
    • Return to Finland
    • Go to any of the close by countries where Saunalahti Prepaid can receive sms, like Australia, Bulgaria, Egypt, Greece, Kazakhstan, Romania, Thailand or Türkiye.
    • Could you log in using a hardware dongle or a smartcard instead of sms?
    • Authenticating using a smartphone app?
    • Any other authenticating methods like Fido2, TOTP, SQRL, U2F?

    If sms authentication to your current phone number is the only available option, then I am afraid you will have to get a 4G router with VPN, DDNS and SMS support. Set it up and ship it to someone in Finland, who is willing to provide power and an internet connection for your device.

    Then you can fire up VPN connection from India to Finland and read sms on your router’s web management interface.

    Please note, that you cannot use the mobile data of your Prepaid sim for the VPN server. Saunalahti Prepaid’s internet connection does not have a public ip address.
