Question about Elisa Huawei CPE PRO 2 5G H122-373, RJ11 port VoLTE and VoLTE

I’m sorry, I can’t write in Finnish.

 

I have some questions about Elisa Huawei H122-373.

I read on Huawei Product description that some H122-373 support VOIP and VOLTE options.

“3.2 Voice Services(optional)The H122-373 provides one telephone port that can be connected to telephones for calling.

It will be nice if you can tell me:

1) if your router supports these two options and if you can call when you plug a landline phone on your RJ11 router?

2) Which language are support by your router?

3) Do you have an Elisa version of your router or you have a Huawei firmware?

4) Can you choose the radio frequencies in the router's web interface? 192.168.8.1 (n1, n3, n7, n28, n78 ????)

5) Are you satisfied by this product?

6) Which is the current version of your firmware?

Thanks, you so much for your answer. It will help me to know if it’s better to choose the Finnish version (Elisa version ???) or the German version (Telekom.de)

Elisa does not offer VoIP-service, thus it will be a hit or miss. At best it works, at worst it may have not been removed from Elisa’s firmware. Unfortunately I don’t know if Elisa sells H122-373 with customised Elisa firmware or stock Huawei firmware.

VoLTE is very picky. In order for it to function, your operator has to support the particular model of equipment you are using and your subscription type and all supplemental services you have ordered have to be compatible with VoLTE.

I am pretty sure that you cannot use your routers VoLTE with any Elisa subscription. There are many VoLTE phones that Elisa does not support, like Microsoft Lumia 950, Doro 7070 or Nokia 800 Tough, too.

Thus, the only way to make phonecalls using your router would be relying on GSM and UMTS networks. Unfortunately I don’t know if Huawei H122-373 supports these older mobile network technologies.

Anyway, having an UMTS voice call going on will impede the data transfer speed and having a GSM call will halt data transfer completely. Thus, if voice calls are important, I recommend getting another separate phone adapter and sim dedicated for just phone calls. Maybe an older router, such as Huawei B315, from a flea market could service as the phone adapter.

PS. If you plan to use Elisa subscription, please note that the following subscription types do not have voice call service at all:

  • Elisa Mobiililaajakaista 4G 100M
  • Elisa Mobiililaajakaista 5G 300M
  • Elisa Mobiililaajakaista 5G 1000M
  • Elisa Mobiililaajakaista 5G 1000M
  • Elisa Mobiililaajakaista Tablet 4G

Thank you for your answers.

I know you are selling Elisa product only in Finland but some company like Satshop Finland are selling Elisa product in other European country as we can see:

“If you use other operator than Elisa and outside of Finland you might need to change network settings in the menus.”

I made an online research.

It seems Elisa Huawei CPE PRO 2 5G H122-373 support VoIP as you can see bellow. (It is not VoLTE but it’s good to see this function because it is an option according To Huawei.)

 With the firmware 10.0.5.1(H612SP7C983)

It will be nice to have screenshot of the VOIP menu of Elisa product.

According to Huawei datasheet, VOIP function is an option like VoLTE. Not all router will have this function.

The Telekom.de Huawei CPE PRO 2 5G H122-373 doesn’t support VOIP as you can see below.

And comments said RJ11 port are deactivate on German version.

 

The latest software version in the world for this product seems to be the 10.0.5.29.​​​​​​


Even I find a Huawei CPE PRO 2 5G with VoLTE option, it is true that it will depends of the wish of the mobile operator to support the router.

It’s a good idea to use another router for the voice function on 3G UMTS network.
I already have a Finnish Huawei B715s-23c with this function but It means I should pay another telephone subscription for unlimited call in case I’m using two router. 5€ per month with Bouygues Telecom in France.

Hello Paul, here’s some answers to your initial questions :slight_smile:  please let us know if you have any more concerns!
 

  1. The router has VoIP available as an option in menu, but VoIP functionality is not verified by Elisa so we cannot guarantee it unfortunately! VoLTE is not supported.
  2. The router supports multiple language options, over 20 in fact.
  3. Firmware is a generic version with feature support.
  4. Unfortunately band (/frequency) lock is not available at this time.

  6. Current version of the firmware should be October 2020 version, 10.0.5.1 H612SP7C983 & WEBUI 10.0.5.1 W2SP1C7201 :thumbsup_tone2:
