Keeping phone number and SIM after subscription termination

Hi,

I have a mobile subscription (Huoleton Premium) that I would like to cancel, at least for several months (and perhaps reactivate later on).

Now, on the OmaElisa page for this, I have found this message when trying to cancel:

 

“Päivitä edulliseen Elisa Numeroparkki -liittymään!

Säilytä ei-aktiivisessa käytössä oleva numero edullisesti mahdollista myöhempää tarvetta varten . Vanha SIM-kortti säilyy, vaihdat helposti liittymätyypin takaisin normaaliksi

Ei määräaikaa, ei vaihtomaksua”

 

Does this mean, that if I don’t subscribe to this option, I will permanently lose my SIM and phone number, and I won’t be able to reactivate them in the future?

Or will I keep them even if I don’t, at least for a while?

yes, you will lose your phone number.

 

i think temporarily taking that “numeroparkki” subscription is good option. numeroparkki does not prevent transferring number to a another tele operator (afterwards).

consider “lataus liittymä” option. which is registered subscription just using prepaid balance. problem is that, transferring internally from invoice subcription into lataus subscription is not possible. basically you need to use another operator as intermediary.

do not confuse “prepaid” and “lataus” plans.

yes, you will lose your phone number.

Thanks for the answer! I am now considering both options.

 

If I understand correctly, in the lataus liittymä I could load some initial amount, and then only be charged for the days in which I use it, while also making the SIM valid indefinitely.

 

But I would need to first switch to another operator, and then back to Elisa. Do you have any practical advice on how to do so in the easiest way?

No. Latausliittymä is valid only two years from the latest top up. So you still have to remember to top up it regularly.
